Students in Cincinnati have a few choices in schools to pursue a foreign language degree. The University of Cincinnati offers programs in classical, foreign language, French, German, Hebrew, Spanish, and romance languages. Xavier University offers degree programs in French, German, Spanish, and teaching English as a second language.

Cincinnati is expected to experience steady growth in employment opportunities. The overall employment rate is projected to grow by 10% through the year 2012. Jobs for interpreters and translators will grow by 17% during the same time period. Employment opportunities for people with ESL or foreign language degrees will increase by 9% on the elementary level and 29% at the secondary and post-secondary levels.

Why Cincinnati is a Great Place to Study Language
Cincinnati has experienced a growth in its foreign born population in recent years. Since 2000, the percentage of residents who were born in another country and speak a language other than English has doubled. Although the overall rate of non-English speaking residents is relatively low compared to other cities, this number is expected to continue to grow in recent years. Previously, the city had little need for interpreters or translators, but this is changing. Cincinnati offers a variety of opportunities to study foreign languages and experience diverse cultures.
